The challenge was gathering detailed feedback on a torch prototype for a specialized audience, which involved recruiting the right participants, managing logistics for shipping and retrieving the prototype confidentially, scheduling follow-up online interviews, and collecting feedback at multiple stages of the user experience.
Objectives
The goal was to capture comprehensive video feedback from participants, covering their unboxing experience, initial reactions, functionality testing, and ergonomic evaluation. These insights would empower the product team to refine the prototype based on real user experiences before launching it to market.
Approach & Methodology
FieldiQ™ employed a multi-step approach to build and sustain engagement:
- Targeted Market Research Recruitment
- Developed a custom screener to identify a highly specialized audience.
- Secured participants who would use the prototype in their specific hobby or creative area of expertise.
- Comprehensive Onboarding
Over a 3-day period, participants were:- Onboarded quickly and effectively including signing NDAs to maintain confidentiality.
- Provided with detailed instructions on expectations throughout, including: unboxing, real-time first impressions of the prototypes, and requirements for returning the prototypes after usage period ended.
- Prototype Testing
- Participants used the prototype in their day-to-day creative routines for 10 days.
- Key moments were recorded and provided for the client team to include video feedback of functionality testing, and real-world usage.
- Follow-Up Interviews
- Final webcam IDIs were conducted and tailored to each participant’s recorded feedback where they also showed what they created using the prototype.
- These guided discussions enabled the end client team to extract deeper insights into participants’ experiences and recommendations.
- Logistics Management
- Handled the shipping and retrieval of prototypes seamlessly to ensure confidentiality and efficiency.
